Wine Odyssey Australia, The Rocks

Wine Odyssey Australia

How was it?
Food: 8/10
Service: 8.5/10
Ambience: 9/10
Value: $$

After dinner at Tony Roma's, the girls and I headed over to The Rocks to have a wine tasting experience at Wine Odyssey Australia. I think it is a relatively new establishment in The Rocks. It is situated in a beautiful heritage listed building, just opposite the Lowenbrau. When you enter you will see rows of different kinds of wines. You can choose to purchase a card and sample whichever wine you like or you can choose one of their wine experiences, including a food & wine matching set menu.

Tonight, we decided to purchase the card and do our own wine tasting, complete with a cheese platter. There's all different kinds of wine available - red, white and dessert wines, it took me so long to decide! You can choose either to have a sample, a half glass or a full glass. When you have chosen the wine you like, you simply place your card in the slot and press your desired amount. When you have finished sampling, you give the lovely staff your card and they will calculate your bill for you.

The cheese platter consisted of goat cheese, brie, blue cheese and cheddar cheese. It also came with some lavosh bread as well as honey, raisins and jam. We were all loving the experience and felt very Parisian ;) (I wish!)

We were seated in the 'Private Bar' room. It was a biggish room with lounges, cushions, lovely antique decorations including lamps and a bird cage, and complete with a fireplace! Very nice! It was a bit big for the three of us, but no complaints! They also have other rooms and a courtyard which has a very pretty light installation.

Overall:
Wine Odyssey Australia is a must try if you're in Sydney. I would love to try the food & wine matching menu next time. It's a great place to catch up with friends, unwind and relax. Very swanky indeed!
